Brand new to Mookah Studio are heat packs handmade by Lesley Curnow, owner, designer, and maker of Sitting Pretty Designs.
In researching brands of heat packs that would suit the Mookah stores, as usual we’re always trying to support small independent local designers/makers where possible. We originally met Lesley at some of the design markets that we attend around the country, and love that she is local to us, and that each piece is crafted by hand in her Kew based studio. Not to mention her unique combination of quality, quirkiness and use of locally designed textiles.
Last week Lesley had cut and sewn our wheat bags, but said she ‘just had to wait until Friday until she visited the family farm to get some more wheat.’ We love this so much!
The background, the story behind the maker, where the product components are coming from, where they’re made. Part of what we love doing at Mookah Studio, is being able to share these beautifully made local products with our customers, but just as important, is to share the background story with them as well.
I should also mention that heat packs are just one product that Lesley makes; she is actually best known for her bags and clutches, which are made with a unique combination of leather and locally designed textiles.
And who doesn’t need a warm, cuddly heat pack at this time of year right?
